President Buhari laughs hard during meeting with other leaders

President Muhanmmadu Buhari is presently in Kenya where he is attending the sixth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD VI).

During his visit, President Buhari informed the international community about Nigeria’s progress in the fight against terrorism.

The president also noted that Nigeria will diligently ensure full rehabilitation of victims of Boko Haram and find lasting solutions to combat threats of terrorism in the country.

The statement issued by Femi Adesina, his special adviser on media and publicity, read in part: “The bottom line is that these problems are our primary responsibility. We must tackle them and find lasting solutions for ourselves.”

Accordingly, President Buhari told the summit attended by Japan’s prime minister, Shinzo Abe, some 35 African leaders and chief executives of at least 80 major companies from Japan, that international cooperation with Nigeria was central in the decimation of Boko Haram terror group.

He said: “I took over the mantle of leadership in Nigeria when the North-Eastern part of the country was being ravaged by Boko Haram.”

But photos released by the presidency showed the Nigerian president laughing out loud during a conversation with other heads of state during the opening session of the two-day event.

A particular picture showed the president looking without worries in the African country, especially with many Nigerians groaning under the hardship of the present administration.

This comes as Buhari’s senior special assistant (Media and Publicity), Shehu Garba took to his Twitter handle to reveal what he president looks forward to every morning when he picks up a newspaper.

Garba’s tweet read: “When he picks a paper, the first page he reaches out for is the cartoon page. He laughs and laughs.”

Without wasting much time, popular BBC News broadcaster Reno Omokri immediately commented on the post saying: “Now you see why the economy is crashing? Amidst a N412 to $1 economy, our leader’s priority is laughing at cartoons!”
